Acne Awareness Episode 3: Is LED Blue Light Therapy the Solution?

We know that acne can be a tenacious and difficult condition to treat. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, acne is the most common skin condition in the United States, impacting approximately 50 million Americans annually. Even though it is a normal part of being human, its presence can cause physical, mental, and social anguish. That may sound extreme, but if you’ve lived with acne for any length of time, then you know it’s no exaggeration.

Acne can cause us to retreat socially, avoid being included in pictures, and even avoid our own reflection.

Here is some good news!

Clinical research has shown that LED blue light therapy can successfully treat acne and even prevent future outbreaks. Plus, there are little or no known side effects to LED therapy, making it a desirable alternative to the effects of harsh, drying topicals or pharmaceutical options. How does it do this? By penetrating only a few millimeters into the skin to kill the P. Acne bacteria responsible for breakouts.

But wait, there’s more…

For those of us looking to be free from acne, blue light is very important but, if you are also looking for additional skin healing and recovery (think less painful inflammation), then you will at want a device that uses blue and red light, or blue, red, and infrared.

Why Celluma?

When considering a light therapy device, Celluma is unique and quite unlike any other low-level light therapy device available today.

It is FDA-cleared for the treatment of acne and it can conform closely to the skin for optimal efficacy. Positioning the LED device close to the skin surface allows cells to absorb more of the light energy during the treatment session, improving cellular performance at the microscopic level and speeding up the elimination of acne bacteria to jump start the skin healing process. A reduction in acne lesions and an overall improvement in skin appearance is often seen in only a matter of days or weeks.

To use Celluma devices, all you need is to sit back, relax, and enjoy 30 minutes of light therapy at home or on the road. You can even nap during your session because it’s a peaceful and relaxing treatment. And, when you’re done, you may feel a warm radiant sensation in your skin - kind of like you’re glowing.

Celluma’s flexible devices allow for more effective treatments compared to traditional devices because they can treat acne anywhere on the body including the neck, chest and back. You can form the light panel into a C- shape for facial treatments or reshape it to treat any area of the body.
